Discussion:
Betcha this is derived from RTLSDR code.... And it's not GPL.

Touchstone-Pro

It's not free. It appears source code is not available. (And you guys got upset
with SDRSharp, which is free and used to have freely available source if not
GPLed source.)

And what exactly gives you the impression it has anything to do with rtl-sdr ?

AFAICT they seem to support only their own RF-explorer hardware and
none of the hardware spec remind me of anything close to the rtl2832.
That RF-explorer hardware has also been available with those exact
spec since 2011 ...

That looks like the kind of thing and the names in the article I found.

There is an article in the september issue on http://www.thespectrummonitor.com/
that strongly implies that it is used with an RTL dongle.

I found these two paragraphs quite interesting. The first is the second
paragraph (page 10) "The package includes one RTL-SDR dongle, mini-antenna,
instructions for downloading Touchstone-Pro (the companion software) to a
Windows-based PC, a key code (via email from NutsAboutNets) to access
Touchstone-Pro RF Spectrum Analyzer software and lifetime of free software
upgrades."

And this is the first paragraph on page 11:

"Within two days of purchase, the NutsAboutNets RTLSDR dongle was received and I
immediately downloaded the Touchstone-Pro software and entered my “key” code
which allows use of the propriety software. Next, following the instructions,
the dongle (RTL2832 chipset) was inserted into a USB drive of my Dell Inspiron
15, the required driver was installed, and the Touchstone Pro program was executed."

Found something interesting, if this is what all the excitement is about.
They ARE using osmocom rtlsdr.

The link to the Touchstone PRO "evaluation" demo is actually the pro version
and needs a key. You have to take the pro off the filename.

http://nutsaboutnets-downloads.s3.amazonaws.com/Touchstone_Setup.exe

You can actually use this one with the rtlsdr. There is no limitations that
I could find in the 5 minutes I played with it. If you download and install the
pro version it's using the same osmocom rtlsdr stuff.

Anyway, app looks like any other open source rtl_fm spectrum sweep.

Hope this helps.
Chris
